Pictures of my Father

"That day when I entered the house, 27 Devon Way, Bailiff Bridge, Brighouse, Yorkshire, that day, 29th July 2009, eight months after my father’s death, I wasn’t really sure what I was looking for or expecting to find: evidence maybe of a life lived, of our Book of Lives - a life lived somewhere in the now-empty house, a house cleared from decades of clutter and functionality. Evidence maybe then, or truths - photography after all deals with truths - since I had spent the biggest part of my life so far, inhabiting and living in these rooms and that is true. They were truths then or evidence of the truth, something authentic and tangible - not the imaginary realities we invented and told."

Jeff Leak recently designed this art catalogue to accompany Dr. Peter Day's recent Arts Council funded exhibition 'Pictures of my Father', at The Surface Gallery, Nottingham. The 96 page catalogue was realised collaboratively proving to be "a thoroughly enjoyable process". Reworked spreads from the book were eventually chosen as the final artwork that was framed for the exhibition itself.

Just Have to Share - The Hungarian Euro design

For her MA degree project at the University of West Hungary, Budapest-based graphic designer Barbara Bernát devised this concept for the Hungarian euro. The project involved five denominations of increasing scale, each made with a set of copperplate etchings; animals of increasing size on the front and related plants on the back. The security feature that reveals the skeleton of each animal under UV light, is not unlike the new Canadian and Norwegian passport we posted previously

Blogger Sans - Free font

Blogger Sans was designed by Sergiy Tkachenko as the FirstSiteGuide’s custom typeface, created primarily for the use in headlines of the website. Blogger Sans draws inspiration from the clarity and legibility of the popular font Dosis with an additional support of the lost Cyrillic languages. The bolder weights are lighter and softer. The following elements (-b-d-h-k-p-q-y-) are shorter, thus the headlines and subheads could be put in the dense line spacing. In addition the outline of the Blogger Sans is more smooth with better eligibility.
Blogger Sans comes in 4 incremental weights with total of 8 different outlines.  It also contains extra currency symbols, error signs, and dingbats.
